About Our Physicians

At Flatlands Medical Associates, our UPB physicians are highly accomplished and experienced interventional nephrologists, radiologists, and surgeons. Together they provide the absolute best in vascular access and peripheral arterial disease management at the main campus of SUNY Downstate and at Flatlands. 

  • Moro Salifu, MD

    Dr. Moro O. Salifu is the lead interventionalist. He is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology with certifications in transplant nephrology and interventional nephrology. In addition to his clinical education, Dr. Salifu obtained an MPH from SUNY Downstate and an MBA in Healthcare from George Washington University.    
     
    Dr. Salifu is an outstanding educator, researcher, and clinician and highly skilled in all areas of vascular access management. He launched the Interventional Nephrology program at SUNY Downstate, where he also serves as Professor and Chief of the Division of Nephrology and Kidney Transplant Program. He has published extensively in the area of kidney diseases. He is the recipient of multiple awards including Castle Connelly Top Doctor, Best Doctor, and from the US News and World Report, as well as being honored and inducted into the World Wide Registry of Executives.

  • Fasika Tedla, MD

    Dr. Fasika Tedla is an interventional nephrologist. He is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology with certifications in transplant nephrology and interventional nephrology. In addition to his clinical education, Dr. Tedla obtained a Masters in Science in Medical Informatics at SUNY Downstate    

    Dr. Tedla is an outstanding educator, clinician, and highly skilled in all areas of vascular access management. Dr. Tedla teaches in the Division of Nephrology, serves as Medical Director of Transplantation at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, and remains active in research. He is a member of various professional organizations including the American Society of Nephrology. 

  • Dale Distant, MD

    Dr. Dale A. Distant is a general and vascular surgeon, with many years of experience in vascular access creation and management. He has outstanding skills in vascular access and is well known in the dialysis community in Brooklyn. He is board certified in Surgery and previously served as chief of transplant surgery at SUNY Downstate.

    Dr. Distant has served in various committees of the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS), on the board of the New York Organ Donor Network, and in other organizations. He has published and presented many articles and abstracts over the years. Dr. Distant currently serves as Professor of Clinical Surgery at SUNY Downstate.

  • KC Janga, MD

    Dr. KC Janga is an interventional nephrologist. He is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology. He brings to Flatlands Medical Associates his skills in clinical nephrology, hypertension, hemodialysis, and advanced procedures in interventional nephrology.
     
    In addition to caring for patients at Flatlands Medical Associates, Dr. Janga serves as both Director of Interventional Nephrology and the Associate Program Director of the Nephrology Fellowship Training Program at Maimonides Medical Center. He also participates actively in several committees at the National Kidney Foundation and the American Society of Diagnostic Interventional Nephrology (ASDIN). 

  • Huntz Liu MD

    Huntz Liu, MD is a practicing Vascular & Interventional Radiologist in Brooklyn, NY a. Dr. Liu graduated from State University of New York Upstate Medical University in 1994 and has been in practice for 22 years. He completed a residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Dr. Liu is board certified in Diagnostic Radiology. He currently practices at SUNY Downstate Medical Center Radiology and is affiliated with Kings County Hospital Center, Lutheran Medical Center and SUNY Downstate Medical Center University Hospital of Brooklyn.

  • Arye Kremer, MD

    Dr. Kremer graduated from the Saba Univ Sch of Med, Saba, Netherland Antilles in 2010. He works in Brooklyn, NY and specializes in Nephrology and Intervention Nephrology . Dr. Kremer is affiliated with Kings County Hospital Center and University Hospital Of Brooklyn.
